8th Grade Students
Are you in 8th grade band at CGMS?
If so, we want you to be in the band at WSHS next year! The band program at West is a home for every student and every student in band belongs in band.
Please email Mr. Nichols if you have any questions,
nathan.nichols@stokes.k12.nc.us
Additionally, explore these sample 4-year plans: you will see quite clearly that you can take band ALL FOUR years you go to WSHS.
Marching Band Interest Meeting
Come to our marching band interest meeting on Tuesday, March 26th at 6:00PM in the band room at West Stokes to learn more about next season and try-it opportunities.
Why band? What's the point?
There are many reasons students should be in band, most of which are the emotional and cognitive benefits of playing music:
Music students learn to express emotions in healthy, positive ways
Learning music stimulates brain growth
The arts teach students to love beauty and to create it
Band teaches collaboration and teamwork, including the deceptively important skill of being a follower and team member
Band instills confidence and pride; and,
BAND IS FUN! Ask any band student at WSHS and they can testify to our program.
