HAVE YOUR SAY - 3rd of MARCH - REFERENDUM DAY!

Residents will have now received their polling cards for the Waterbeach NP Referendum taking place on the 3rd of March 2022.

This is a very important milestone and marks the end of seven years of hard work by a team of volunteers comprising residents and councillors.

If successful at referendum, the Waterbeach Neighbourhood Plan will become part of the statutory development plan for Waterbeach parish and will be used in determining planning applications. The plan has been widely consulted on (with residents, local stakeholders and statutory consultees) prior to the submission of the plan to South Cambridgeshire District Council and prior to an independent examination.

Following a successful examination, the last stage in the Waterbeach Neighbourhood Plan journey is the parish-wide referendum.

Please don’t forget to HAVE YOUR SAY by casting your vote on the Waterbeach Neighbourhood Plan on the 3rd of March - Referendum Day.

Waterbeach Neighbourhood Plan

Shaping the future of our Village

Our Neighbourhood Area will continue to be a great place to live and work by ensuring that the identity and character of the existing communities within the Parish are respected and protected. The plan will ensure that any new development in the Neighbourhood Area will provide sustainable infrastructure. It will ensure the improvement of the overall quality of life of every resident. New development should not be overbearing or overwhelming and should complement the rural vistas and existing Fen Edge landscape.

The Neighbourhood Plan sets out planning policies for the Waterbeach Parish area, including the old Barracks and Chittering.

A Neighbourhood Plan is written by the local community the people who know and love the area, rather than the local Planning Authority.

Waterbeach Parish Council submitted its Neighbourhood Plan to SCDC on 2nd February 2021. After receiving your views on the Neighbourhood Plan, the plan was subject to an independent examination and was successful, and has now been brought forward for Referendum!
