Welcome to the Thomson lab

Pitzer and Scripps Colleges

We are conservation scientists who apply tools from population and community ecology, statistics, and modeling to environmental problems ranging from non-native species introductions to climate change. Our lab studies many different kinds of organisms, but especially plants and bees.

If you are a student at the Claremont Colleges and would like to learn more about research opportunities, please email Diane Thomson (also known as Dr. T.), dthomson@scrippscollege.edu. You do not need previous experience to work in my lab, although the type of projects available may differ depending on which courses you have taken already.

If you are looking for thesis opportunities in the 2024-2025 academic year, check out the Research tab for some examples of ongoing projects. Students who have taken introductory statistics and would be interested in a one semester project analyzing existing data should consider enrolling in my half-credit advanced data analysis class, Biol 119, during fall semester.
