Food

The pub has a warm and inviting ambience and excellent homemade food is available every lunch time between 12pm - 2pm. Our homemade dishes change on a daily basis (see the specials board). No evening meals, unless pre-arranged - ring for details. Such is the popularity of Sunday lunch at The Dog Inn, it is advisable to book. The chef, Manuel, cooks food using the finest of ingredients, sourced locally (whenever possible) and cooked to order.

The bar menu is very traditional offering a wide selection of starters and old favourites including homemade steak & kidney (made with Guinness and served with a Yorkshire pudding); Cumberland Sausage (made locally to a traditional Lakeland recipe, served with a fried egg); and grilled gammon (served with a choice of egg, pineapple, or both). Famous for its omelettes, there is also a range of lite bites on offer for those with a lighter appetite. There is a good range of filled jacket potatoes, sandwiches, tortilla wraps, and salads as well as a Ploughman's lunch.

A selection of tempting homemade desserts can be ordered at the bar from the daily specials board. Vegetarians are well catered for and the licensees will do their best to cater for those with any special dietary requirements.
