Dear Classmate:
How can it be 40 years?
You probably feel the same amazement we do, because it doesn’t feel as though such a large part of our lives has passed since we were classmates at Stephen Decatur High School.
Maybe you have had the experience of connecting with an old friend from school and feeling the years melt away. Even though we may not have seen each other often – or at all – since graduation, we have so much in common. It’s easy to talk and share old memories and new info. It even happens with those you may not have known well in your high school days.
Our committee has felt that way as we plan the 40th reunion. We can’t wait to see you all, and we can’t wait for you to visit again with this group of special friends!
If you’ve been to one of our reunions before, please come again. If you have not come to one yet, make the 40th your first. We’re sure you’ll have a good time.
★ Our event takes place Saturday evening at the Decatur Conference Center and Hotel from 6-10 p.m. on July 21. We’ll have a buffet meal, a cash bar, a DJ and a dance floor. Dress casually!
★ Cost per person is $45.
★ We plan to honor classmates who are no longer with us. Email the committee names of those you would like the group to remember.
★ We will choose a restaurant/bar to get together informally on Friday night before the reunion. More details to come.
★ You’ll find more information on the registration form on the other side of this letter. Please complete it and send in your payment by July 10.

About our event
We recommend casual attire. Come to have fun!
We reserved a block of discounted rooms at Decatur Conference Center and Hotel for Friday and Saturday nights. When calling 217-422-8800 to reserve a room, mention SDHS Reunion for the special rate. You must reserve by May 2 to get that rate, but the room block may fill earlier. Please be aware no-shows or those who cancel reservations less than 72 hours in advance will be charged for one night’s room and tax.
Please consider a donation to the reunion. Your contribution will go toward:
o Sponsoring a teacher to attend our event.
o Future reunions, so the next committee will not start from scratch.
o Unexpected costs for this year’s event. We’ve budgeted carefully and don’t anticipate problems, though. We’ll happily share financial information with our classmates when requested.
