Masters thesis - A Numerical Study of Blood Flow through Artery

  • investigate the flow of blood inside human femoral artery with or without stenosis.
  • Simulated both 2D and 3D flows within normal and diseased artery using JAVA code and FLUENT
  • A parametric study was performed to determine the influence of conditions on wall shear stress and flow velocities.

List of academic projects undertaken during course curriculum:

Thermal and stress analysis of engine piston

  • Analyzed stresses on an engine piston, using coupled thermal stress analysis, exposed to constant heat flux at the top surface.
  • Implemented Finite Element Technique using MATLAB programming to obtain complete distribution of steady state stress and temperature.

Two phase flow - homogeneous flow model

  • Implemented the theory of two phase flow predict flow characteristics of the mixture with up to 70-80% accuracy.
  • Parametric studies performed to study the effect of different flow and thermal conditions on the flow.
  • Developed a GUI based application (using Java Swing) with numerical model of one-dimensional homogeneous vapor-liquid mixture flow in a circular pipe.

  • Simulation of steepest decent method to find optimum of a multi dimensional convex function.
