Dear Leader,
According to National Church Life Survey data, it is estimated that in Australia 18% of local Protestant churches have experienced net growth of at least 10% in their weekly attendance over the 2016-2021 period, while 69% have declined. This is a large reduction from the previous 5-year period, 2011-2016, when 31% of churches had experienced such growth and 50% had declined.
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on church attendances in 2020 and 2021 mean it is likely that more churches were experiencing growth up until 2019, and that this historic event is the primary reason we have seen such a marked lowering in the number of growing churches.
The pandemic has impacted churches of all sizes in a similar way and disrupted previous patterns. No denominational groups appear to have avoided being impacted by the pandemic, although there are some small differences between them.
Most churches want to do better to minister to their own people and to reach out to their community but often they don't know what to do first or how to do it.
Join us for a webinar on “Church Revitalisation: Is It For The Church You Serve?” to hear about how City to City's Revitalise Australia program might benefit your church and its ministries. You'll get an overview of the program, meet some of our consultants, hear first hand from churches who have been through the process and have an opportunity to ask questions.
In City to City's Revitalise Australia program our consultants work with churches to evaluate their ministries, distill priorities and develop and communicate a concrete vision, all while training and coaching church leadership through the process of change. Our 15 month program is a partnership with the church that draws upon the experience and knowledge of the City to City team to support church leadership to design and implement change in their context.UR REVITALISE AUSTRALIA PROGRAM
