The Second District Court of Appeal held oral arguments in the 1908 Courtroom at the Historic Courthouse at the Polk County History Center on March 11, 2020. This marks the first time an appellate oral argument was held in Bartow and the first time in four years that the Second District has sat in Polk County.

In celebration and as a welcome to the court, PAWL hosted a luncheon at the History Center immediately following the court session.

Wednesday, March 11, 2020.

  • Prior to oral arguments, the judges met with local high school students from several schools to discuss the appellate process and explain the role of the appellate court within the Florida Court System. This was a unique opportunity for the participating students.

  • To further the outreach to the Polk Community and its students, members of PAWL visited participating schools in advance to allow even more students an opportunity to learn about the role of appellate courts and the legal system.
