Robotics Program
What game are we playing?
The Robotics Competition Teams will be competing in VEX Robotics. The younger team will be playing "Full Volume" and our older team will be playing "Over Under". Check out how the game is played
Our Goal
Bringing enrichment to students who have interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. Students will be able to participate in workshops that center around hands on STEAM activities. We aim to have a workshop every 4-6 weeks as long as a location space is available.
For students interested in a competitive team, we will have 6-8 spots available in the Elementary School Division and for 8 spots available in the Middle School and High School Division. We hope to build more teams in the future. Providing this opportunity will give them a better grasp on Engineering and Programming. They will also learn Teamwork and Communication skills that will be carried throughout their academic career and beyond.
Our Why
Supports past and present students enrolled in the Mandarin Immersion Program and encourages community building. We also hope to build strong teams that may stay together for a longer period and build long lasting relationships with this unique organization structure. We also hope that our older students will stay connected to help mentor the younger students and build a legacy program.
Our Plan
Workshops: Open to any student interested in STEAM. Aimed at age groups 2nd grade and up.
Competition team: Must be an OMCBC member. 4th grade – 6th grade for the VEX IQ Elementary School Division and 7th - 12th for the VRC Middle School and High School Division. Must agree to the student code of conduct agreement and parent agreement. Must commit 4+ hours a week to team practices, able to attend at least 1 regional tournament (up to 60 miles away) and able to travel to VEX Worlds (if we make it that far). 2023 VEX Worlds will be in Dallas, Texas.
VEX IQ: Elementary School
VRC: Middle School
