Mini About Me

The 2022-2023 school year will mark my 11th year in education. I have served in HISD as an ELAR 6th-grade teacher, department chair, and mentor for new teachers. I have experience in Charter as an instructional coach for a PK-8th grade campus and as an Assistant Principal. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston-Downtown and a Master of Education Degree in Education Administration from Lamar University.

While continuously growing professionally, the most coveted role I serve is being a mother to an energetic and handsome four-year-old son. I am devoted to continually exploring new ideas to meet the needs of all students, interacting with parents and community members, and cultivating collaborative relationships with my colleagues. Outside of education, I enjoy traveling and spending quality time with family and friends.

I sincerely welcome our conversation and input during this year. I can’t wait to celebrate our collective successes during the school year. #WOLFPACKPRIDE

Once we are good to go with routines, teachers will begin administering beginning of year (BOY) assessments. First up:

  • Running Records- These assess your child's reading level.

  • Ren360- This is a computer-based test in Reading and Math. They will take this multiple times a year to check their progress.

  • Grade Level Assessments- Teachers will give their own subject tests to see where students are starting.

What Have I Been Reading?

I remember rereading this book time and time again as a reading teacher. After watching the movie, students immediately became interested in the novel.

In this story, Stanley Yelnats suffers from bad luck due to a curse placed on his great-great-grandfather. Stanley was wrongfully sent to Camp Green Lake for a crime he did not commit. In this story, students learn about fate and destiny as well as the importance of friendship.
