(here's how to pronounce Ilse)

Statics prof

Professor Susan R.

CEEN 241 Statics

Welcome to the wonderful world of Statics! Have you ever tried to balance an object on your hand to find the center of gravity? Have you ever started pushing a bookcase across the floor and discovered its tendency to tip over? Are you curious about how trusses, cables, and simple machines work? Statics will answer all of these questions, and more! This course provides a bridge between the theory of Physics I and upper-level engineering courses such as Mechanics of Materials, Solid Mechanics, and Dynamics. 3.0 Semester Hours.
Prerequisite: PHGN 100

Thermo I prof

Professor Derrick R.

MEGN 361 Thermo I

Although the course is listed under Mechanical Engineering, all majors have taken this course in the past. The primary difference between this course and others is we focus a lot on the application of thermo, not just the theory. How do we take what we learn in class and apply it to renewable energy issues? How do we balance reducing emissions and still provide reliable and cheap transportation for us to get to work?  Lastly, how do we approach complex systems as engineers? 3.0 Semester Hours.
Prerequisite: MATH 213 (C- or better)
