I am an historian researching Africa's modern economic history, with a focus on comparative studies of migration, inequality (education, gender, income), agricultural development, and primary commodity trade, and regional expertise in central-east Africa, Uganda in particular. I obtained a bachelor in liberal arts and sciences from University College Utrecht in 2007 ,  a master in history from Utrecht University in 2011 , and a PhD from Wageningen University in 2017, all with distinction (Cum Laude).  Currently, I work as an assistant professor at the Economic and Environmental History Group, Wageningen University.  I have also been affiliated to Makerere Institute of Social Research (2015), The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (2016), the University of Michigan (2016-17) and Lund University (2017-18). I am currently affiliated to Makerere University's Department of History, Archaeology and Heritage Studies. Here's a link to my official university homepage.

I am currently co-editor of Economic History of Developing Regions, with Alfonso Herranz (editor-in-chief) and Vellore Arthi. The journal's website here.

I am also a board member of the Vereniging voor Landbouwgeschiedenis and chair of the editorial board of the book series Historia Agriculturae, in collaboration with Amsterdam University Press. Website here.
