Over the next few weeks we’ll be highlighting open positions for next year’s PTA. Please consider jumping in with both feet. We promise, you won’t regret it!
You’ll be supported by a team of returning PTA leaders who will guide and support you.
Trust us, your kids will think you’re their hero!
Oversees programs like Raccoon Runners, Drama Club, basketball, after school enrichment and many others. Each program will have a designated coordinator who will run the logistics & planning. You will work with and support the coordinators from launch (end of the summer / beginning of the school year), to marketing, budgeting, and ongoing communication. The VP gathers updates and reports on programs at the monthly PTA meetings as well. Once things are running, it’s answering emails, meetings and whatever you want to bring to the position.
The Mantua AAP (Advanced Academic Programs) Liaison works to help AAP families get the information they need to support their children. The AAP Liaison works with the school’s AA Resource Specialist, Eva Bousbouras, to communicate any upcoming programs, camps, or special information to AAP families. With students entering Mantua Elementary for AAP from Bailey's, Camelot, Fairhill, Graham Road, Timber Lane, and Woodburn Elementary Schools, there are opportunities for the AAP Liaison to introduce the Mantua PTA to AAP families at orientations, host welcome events, and create community amongst AAP families in the Mantua Elementary community.
Main duties include: working with the Principal, front office staff, PTA president, and volunteer coordinator to plan and execute "thank you events" for our teachers and staff. Events can include but are not limited to Welcome Back Breakfast (August), Thanksgiving pie drive (November), Winter Break Luncheon (December), and Staff Appreciation Week (May.) Additional small events can include waffle breakfast for a teacher work day, coffee and donuts in the break room, stocking popcorn and keurig stands, etc. Previous hospitality coordinator (Heather Muety) will help transition with planning documents and vendor information. Teachers really appreciate food/snacks during teacher workdays, enrichment nights where they can't go home (pizza, etc.)
Mantua Elementary School Kids Care Club
The Mantua Kids Care Club was established in 1997 as part of the nationwide Kids Care Club, which now counts more than 1,800 registered clubs around the world. The mission of the Mantua Kids Care Club is to help those less fortunate and encourage Mantua students to participate in community service activities. The Kids Care Club is a voluntary organization open to all children in Kindergarten through sixth grade. The club meets after school once a month, for about an hour. Some of the numerous activities and community service projects that the Mantua Kids Care Club has participated in recently are:
Advertising and supporting the Mantua Fall Food Drive (with the Mantua Family liaison)
making no sew blankets for both the animal shelter and project linus
making cards and small gifts of thanks for our school staff, bus driver, custodians, etc.
Assisting with the annual Roberta Romano Raccoon Run
Organizing various collection boxes (pet supply drive)
making cards and pictures for local senior/assisted living facilities
hygiene kits for the lamb center
The time commitment isn't too bad- of course it's the one hour a month for the meeting plus some cushion for before and after. There is some time for planning the activity and gathering supplies ( there is a budget for this)
For both years I was in charge, I tried to get about 35 kids registered- there is always some attrition, or some kids that can only participate certain months due to other activities. I highly recommend trying to get at least 2 parent volunteers to assist each month. For the months that we make posters I have to make time to go back to the school to hang them up and for the food drive I have to make sure boxes are set out. There is occasionally some delivery time as well- deliver cards to the senior living facility, kits to the lamb center, etc. Overall it was pretty manageable. Any additional questions- feel free to contact previous chair Allison Stellatos directly at allymac28@gmail.com.
This volunteer will shadow returning Membership Chair Amy Sheridan to learn more about this role and ideally take over as chair for the 2025-2026 school year. If you're interested in volunteering in a smaller capacity but not yet ready to own your own role, this could be a great opportunity to get involved! This position works to drive membership for the PTA and is typically a front-loaded role, with most effort taking place August - December. More detailed description coming soon ...
This effort can be accomplished entirely from home on your schedule. This chairperson is responsible for advertising/reminding families (e.g. PTA Newsletter, Facebook) to enroll in programs like Harris Teeter or other stores where you can link the purchases you already make to the Mantua PTA. A percentage of each purchase goes back to the school at no additional cost to the family. This may require some coordination with the program itself (e.g. getting Mantua appropriately registered with Harris Teeter). It may also require helping walk parents through how to register themselves. This chairperson is also responsible for advertising/reminding families (e.g. PTA Newsletter, Facebook) to reach out to employers to see if they will or already participate in corporate matching.
The Reflections program provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts which boost student confidence and success in the arts and in life.
Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-created theme. This 50+ year-old program helps them explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life. This position finds local restaurants to coordinate to designate fundraising nights where Mantua families can have a portion of the night's sales go to the Mantua PTA. This position can be done remotely on your own time.
This effort can be accomplished entirely from home. This chairperson would attend school board meetings (can attend virtually) and stay up to date on school board related issues that pertain to Mantua. They would then relay the pertinent information to the school and parents (i.e. email for school admin/PTA board, PTA newsletter, Facebook).
This effort can be accomplished entirely from home on your schedule. This chairperson effort would only be required from Spring 2024 until Fall 2025. In the Spring, coordinate with Edukit and teachers to get accurate supply lists for classrooms. Advertise (e.g. PTA Newsletter, Facebook) the Edukit program to families. Edukit will deliver directly to the school or to students' homes. Read more information about the program here: https://www.edukitinc.com/School-Supplies-Online
Help us raise funds by selling Mantua spirit wear at school and PTA events!
