There are different kind of singing styles, but we will talk about the ones which are loved by the people the most. Here is the list of singing styles that you should be aware of if you are planning to learn how to sing and succeed.

Rock

Rock genre is known for the powerful singing where the vocalists are singing from the core of their lungs, screaming and showing intense emotions through their singing.

Rock performers do expressive and powerful singing. The flow of emotions in their singing are more important than the smoothness of the sound.

Pop

Pop is smoother going music with touch of sarcasm, fun, love and romance in it. People love pop more than the other singing styles. Pop became popular in the mid 90s.

Pop music has got great rhythm and superb melody in it which make it different from other singing genre. Pop music is sometimes also referred to as popular music but keep in mind that both are different.

Opera and Classical

Opera and Classical singing style is old school since it has been there for so many decades when there were no other singing genres.

Opera singing goes in coordination with theatre art where the singer is portraying his emotions through soulful singing where the singing is mostly on high notes and requires a great amount of power from the singer.

The classical singing genre is highly connected to our hearts since it is traditional and religious singing.

Blues and Jazz

Blues and jazz are a similar kind of genre of singing. When the singer has clarity and great finish of words while singing then it comes under jazz while blues have roughly edges.

Soul

Soul is a blend of jazz, rhythms and blues. Soul originated in African American singing where they expressed their emotions and feelings through dance moves and singing.

Hip Hop

Hip hop is a highly popular music genre of current times. It is a great mixture of beats, rapping, rhythms and superb lyrics. These songs usually expressed the life and emotions uniquely. Hip hop singing requires great play with words and beats.

Metal

Metal is the most powerful and dynamic way of singing. It is also referred to as screaming since the voice is very similar to screaming. People who can sing such loud heavy music are good to go for metal genre. The excitement and frustration is expressed at peak using metal. Metal is also inspired from blues. The stage is on fire when the metal is performed with guitarists and drummers.
