Service

Mathematical leadership and service to the academic community are two incredibly important facets of my graduate career. See the relevant section of my CV for a complete list of leadership and service projects. Some selected leadership experience is listed below.

  • ICTP Summer Graduate Course in Tight Closure Co-Organizer: Assisted organization team with technical obstacles involved in international meetings, managed courseware, and presented a tutorial on F-rational rings which included grading participants’ assignments.

  • CARES Co-advisor: Created framework for a weekly expository seminar for graduate students in commutative algebra in the Midwest, including coordinating graduate leadership team consisting of students from four different universities, creating and maintaining the seminar website, and directing appropriate talk ideas to interested speakers.

  • eCARs - Early Commutative Algebra Researchers Co-Organizer: Created organization committee, handled administrative duties including inviting speakers and coordinating over Zoom for the conference, and facilitated online meeting rooms for the conference and discussion sessions.

  • KUMUNU Jr 2019 Co-Organizer (Spring 2020): Invited speakers and handled administrative duties relating to the conference at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. (Canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic)

  • math@CASE Coordinator (Fall 2019-Spring 2020): Coordinated supplemental instruction sessions primarily for underrepresented minority students in eight different courses, including College Algebra, Finite Mathematics, and Calculus I and II among others.

  • Graduate Chapter of the American Mathematical Society at Mizzou President (Summer 2017-Spring 2019): Ran chapter meetings and organized and facilitated a variety of academic and social experiences, including a professional development panel for graduate students applying to academic, teaching, and industry jobs in mathematics.

  • University of Missouri-Columbia Graduate Algebra Seminar Organizer (Fall 2016-Spring 2018, Fall 2019-Spring 2019): Organized, scheduled, and facilitated weekly hour long talks by graduate students to an algebra-focused audience in algebraic topics, prepared announcement emails, and handled hospitality duties.
