We have received a Research and Development grant from The Nuclear Regulatory Commission. We will continue our work on accident tolerant fuels!

Rajnikant actively participated at the ANS winter meeting in Washington D.C. with both poster and oral presentations. Great job RK!

Gabrielle presented her work "Synthesis of multifunctional nanoparticles for imaging and radiation enhancement in therapy "at the MAC-AAPM 2019 Annual Meeting, Mid-Atlantic Chapter  of the American Association of Physicist in Medicine, in Baltimore, MD. Well done! 

Maria graduated with the Ph.D degree in Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering and received the diploma at the VCU Spring commencement ceremony! Thanks for such as wonderful speech at the commencement!  Congratulations Dr. Molina, very proud of you.

2018

Miguel graduated with the Ph.D degree in Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering and received the diploma at the VCU Fall commencement ceremony! Proud of you Miguel, Congratulations!

Miguel presented his work at the MAC-AAPM 2018 Annual Meeting, Mid-Atlantic Chapter  of the American Association of Physicist in Medicine. Miguel Received the best presentation award in the Young Investigators Symposium. Congratulations Miguel!

Congratulations Rajnikant for passing the Qualifier Exam.

Dr. Rojas has been invited to give a talk at the International Conference of Ionizing Processes (ICIP) 2018.

Miguel participated in the NESLS program at ORNL for the spring semester. Miguel was part of the Nuclear and Radiochemistry group and continued with his work on encapsulation of alpha generators in lanthanide-based nanoparticles  for targeted alpha therapy.

2017

Maria and Miguel actively participated at the ANS winter meeting in Las Vegas with poster and oral presentation. Great job.  

Both Maria and Miguel received poster awards at the 2017 ANS Winter Meeting-Student Poster Session. Congratulations!

Dr. Rojas was selected to receive an ORAU travel grant. She visited Oak Ridge National Laboratory over the summer with her graduate student, Miguel Toro, to conduct research on radioactive nanoparticles. Miguel received training as Radiological worker and obtained very useful results for his research project. Thanks to Dr. Saed Mirzadeh and the The Nuclear & Radiochemistry Group (NRG) for hosting us during the summer. 

Maria has been awarded with the American Association of University Women International Fellowship. Congratulations Maria, way to go!

Dr. Dustin Clifford presented our work on radiation synthesis of nanomaterials at the 2017 TMS Annual Meeting & Exhibition, symposium on Functional Nanomaterials: Emerging Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology.

2016

Dr. Rojas has been selected to receive one of the 2016 VCU Presidential Research Quest Fund (PeRQ) awards. This funding will support our group on the research of Radiosensitizer nanomaterials for enhanced targeted radiation therapy. 

Mateo Zutta is joining our group as visiting scholar. Mateo is currently a PhD student at the National University of Colombia. Welcome Mateo.

Miguel has been awarded with the 2016 Bradley-Alavi Student Fellowship Award with his work on multifunctional radioactive nanoparticles for nuclear medicine. Congratulations Miguel!

Maria was awarded with the student supplemental support toward attending the 2016 Winter Meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada  by The Professional Women in the American Nuclear Society (PWANS) committee. Congratulations Maria!

Dr. Rojas has been selected to participate in the 2016 tour of the French nuclear facilities!

2015

Dr. Rojas and collaborators , Dr. Carlos E. Castano (VCU), William Fahrenholtz (Missouri S&T), Gregory Hilmas (Missouri S&T), have been selected to receive an award for their rapid turnaround experiment (RTE) proposal submitted to  The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Nuclear Science User Facilities (NSUF). 

Maria, Miguel and Dr. Rojas received a travel award to the NSUF users meeting 2018 at Idaho Falls! Thanks NSUF
