Round Roller

Round Roller is an ongoing level generation experiment. While it is complete enough to be called a game, I continue to edit and revise it to flesh out the gameplay experience. At its core Round Roller is a 3D platformer where the objective is to successfully reach the goal at the end of a stretch of different floating platforms. Some platforms tilt or fall so the player must develop strategies to best navigate the levels generated.

Round Roller's Levels

Each level is randomly generated. The levels can contain five to ten platforms of three different types. Solid platforms are green and do not move when the player lands on them. Tilting platforms are yellow-orange and will tilt forwards or backwards depending on the players position on the platform. Falling platforms are red and will fall when the player touches them. The player's goal is to reach the end, a solid green platform with a purple fence around it and a purple circle in the middle.

Round Roller Gameplay

Round Roller is best played with a wired or wireless controller such as an Xbox controller. The player can use the left joystick to move the ball around and the A button to jump. If playing with the keyboard, the player can use the W, A, S, D keys to move and the spacebar to jump. To reach the end of the level the player must jump from platform to platform keeping in mind the different platform types. The player can double jump and even climb the sides of platforms by jumping quickly. This game can currently be played indefinitely as there is no win condition. Round Roller is being developed in Unity 2018.
