Jes Malitoris

By day I work in books marketing for an academic press; by night, I write short form and longform speculative fiction, with a preference for weird, melancholic, folkloric fantasy and horror. 

I am trained as a historian, earning my PhD in 20th century US history from Duke University in 2019 with a focus on gender, family, and race. It always always informs my writing, whether through historical inspirations in my fantasy or through thematic interests in power, knowledge creation, and the way we use stories. 

I live in Durham, NC, with my spouse and a garden of spicy peppers.
