I welcome you all to IGNOU Regional Centre Agartala.

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Centre in Agartalawas established in 2001 to serve the educational needs of students across the state of Tripura. Initially, the Regional Centre operated from a building provided by the Department of Education, Government of Tripura, within the campus of Maharaja BirBikram (MBB) College. Later, it shifted to the new science building of MBB College, where it functioned till 18th July, 2024.

On 19th July, 2024, the Regional Centre moved to its own dedicated campus in Malayanagar, Renters Colony, Agartala. The new campus was inaugurated by the Honourable Union Minister of Education Sri Dhermendra Pradhan on 7th February 2024 .

Presently IGNOU Regional Centre, Agartala, supports over 11,000 learners, addressing the educational needs of all 8 districts in Tripura. It has learner support centres in Dhalai District, Gomati District, North District, South District, Unokoti District, West Tripura. It provides extensive academic support through 10 Regular Study Centres and 5 Programme Study Centres  of Certificate in Community Health, MA Education Programme  backed by a team of more than 200 academic counselors.

IGNOU Regional Centre, Agartala widely uses the varioussocial media platform such as face book, YouTube, twitter, instagrametc. which has shown growthrateof 230% in terms of use by our learners. The various social media platforms are making a positive impact in bringing awareness among the people of Tripura about the various activities of IGNOU  Regional Centre Agartala as well as the various Programmes being offered by the University.

Regional Centre Agartala strives to provide comprehensive support to learnerspursuing their academic and professional goalsthough distance and online learning. IGNOU Regional Centre Agartala believes in the transformative power of education and the  RCadmits learners in a wide range ofprogrammes offered by the university to meet the needs of different categories of learners of Tripura.

Our highly dedicated team of officers and staff are always there to guide the prospective learners, so that they get all the recourses and support in their academic endeavours.
