“I Feel Pretty” is a collection of black queer beauty, excellence, insecurity, and euphoria. Inspired by Marlon Riggs’ 1989 experimental documentary “Tongues Untied” where Riggs truly captures the essence of being black and gay in America. In this short film you’ll be entering my realm, my world. Together we’ll go on a journey of finding out who “Jaciaihus” really is. This piece has been in the works for over a year and is a collection of aesthetically pleasing moments. Through the use of dance, poetry, and multimedia performance I bring to life the moments when “I Feel Pretty” and when I don’t. Black gay men loving ourselves is a revolutionary act!
