Biography

Hongkyung Lee is an associate professor in the Department of Energy Science and Engineering at DGIST. He received his Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from KAIST, South Korea (2016). During his Ph. D., his research focused on the electrochemical interfaces in Li-air batteries and core technologies for Li metal stabilization. After that, he joined the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) as a postdoctoral research associate under the supervision of Dr. Ji-Guang Zhang (2017-2019). During his career at PNNL, he contributed to the Battery500 consortium to prototype practical Li-metal pouch cells by advancing Li-metal stabilization through multi-scale interface engineering. His current research interests include dendrite-free electroplating of high-capacity metallic anodes, fast-charging Li-ion, and battery diagnosis.
