About Your School Counselor
Mrs. Adriana Salinas
I am a proud Houstonian, born and raised in Southeast Houston and an HISD graduate from Chavez High School. I attended The University of Texas at Austin and earned my Bachelors in English and Education. Upon graduation, I went back to my alma mater and taught high school English for five years and during my third year of teaching I earned my Masters of Education from The University of St. Thomas in Professional School Counseling. I am now entering my fourth year as a High School Counselor. I'm passionate about education, literacy, and mental health.
My mission is to instill all students with academic and socio-emotional tools to ensure their academic successful, post-high school readiness and promote their positive personal growth. I will work closely with the HAIS faculty and staff as well as parents, and the community to build positive relationships, provide relevant and meaningful resources and support.
I'm excited to serve as your HAIS School Counselor.

Attendance
Attendance matters for success in school and in life, and absences can easily add up to academic trouble.
If you are absent you need to turn in a written/doctor excuse to the attendance office as soon as possible.
Absences without acceptable excuses will become unexcused absences and will negatively impact your performance and credits.
Excessive absences can result in NGs (no grade) which means you do not receive credit for it.
