My Story

Me enjoying a round of golf.

My twin sister Betty donated her kidney for my first transplant.

My family and friends at the Kidney Golf Tournament in 2017.

I was diagnosed with kidney disease when I was 20 years old. I didn’t realize the impact it would have on my life at that point as you think you are invincible at that age.

Unfortunately at the age of 30 my kidneys completely failed and I had to start dialysis for the first time. Our son Logan was only 5 years old and our daughter Rianne was 2 months old.

Since then, I have been blessed to have the opportunity to have three kidney transplants. My sister unselfishly donated the first kidney which lasted 5 years and my second transplant came from a deceased donor which lasted just over 2 years. Unfortunately, after 2 years, I was forces back on dialysis but I was lucky enough to be able to dialyze at home.

In 2020, I was blessed to have the opportunity to have third kidney transplant. Again from a deceased donor.

There have been huge improvements to treatments offered and continued research which benefits everyone living with kidney disease. The Kidney Foundation helps drive funding for this continued support.

The Kidney Foundation’s goal is to promote kidney disease awareness and empower people living with kidney disease through education, support and advocacy. I have seen the positive impact the Kidney Foundation has had on my family and other families. With your support the Kidney Foundation can continue to help those families who truly need it and struggle with kidney disease.
