What is SOTA

The Student Occupational Therapy Association at Gwynedd Mercy University is a campus organization focused on increasing campus and community awareness of the Occupational Therapy profession as well as the Association, serving the community and campus actively, raising funds to support member's professional and Association events, promoting social activities among members and non members, and finally, developing opportunities for professional development.

Our Mission

The Mission of Gwynedd Mercy University’s SOTA is to enhance the knowledge of the profession of occupational therapy through professional development, fundraising, social media, community service, and social activities. The organization will facilitate opportunities for camaraderie among students, as well as provide meaningful, productive interaction with faculty (SOTA Bylaws, 2020).

Who Can Join SOTA?

SOTA welcomes all Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy majors, as well as any other undergraduate or graduate students interested in joining. As a SOTA member you will have the opportunity to join a committee: Community Service, Fundraising, Social Activities, Social Media, and Professional Development. You may join as many as you would like to actively participate in. Every committee initiates and leads at least one event each semester to promote the value of OT.

Why Should I Join SOTA?

SOTA provides many opportunities to grow in your role as a student such as sharing your ideas, planning and organizing committee events, or even becoming an elected executive board member. SOTA encourages active campus and community involvement, promoting our amazing profession, and creating long lasting relationships among students and faculty. Whether you are interested in taking on a leadership position or attending events as a member, SOTA has a spot for everyone.
