With the effects of global warming and climate change becoming more prevalent today, one area it has dramatically impacted is flooding. Specifically, Miami-Dade County has seen an increase in seasonal floods, which causes road closures, traffic light outages, and immense damage to homes and places of business. The Water Wand: Crowdsourced Hydrometry mobile application was created to provide researchers and the public opportunities to collaborate on research and community flooding information. This product will work in conjunction with the Water Wand device, which allows information gathering of water quality through sensors. It will also allow those without the device to participate in understanding actively and predicting the flood trends in the local area.

This proposal discusses the research and development of the Security Inhouse Monitoring Surveillance Robot or S.I.M.S BOT, which can be easily accessed from any laptop, cellphone, or tablet if there is an internet connection and a web browser. This design is aimed for commercial use and aims for people with small businesses and houses to increase their security which cannot be completely reliable in old camera security systems which are now obsolete and not affordable for every household. Many aspects of the project were researched, and possible infringement of patents was especially considered while building this robot. Based on the current era and how much control is required for the average person to have a sense of responsibility over their own assets, the team concluded that the project is eco-friendly due to the amount and quality of the components and the possibility of re use when done thanks to the multi-disciplinary use of the raspberry Pi.

The future of transportation within urban cities will rely heavily on traffic control systems to the mitigate the challenges that will occur when there is an increase in population growth. Such systems need to be able to adapt to different traffic patterns in order to decrease traffic congestion and to keep residents and visitors safe. Our project has incorporated the use of IoT technology integrated with the Arduino IoT cloud platform to help solve this challenge. The cloud platform establishes a network between traffic signal lights in order for the traffic lights to communicate with each other to adapt to different traffic patterns. This then helps with optimizing the traffic signal patterns based on the different traffic patterns that can occur at a four-way intersection.
