Great Smoky Mountains Flowering Times Database

This website contains data on the flowering times for over 300 plants that occur within Great Smoky Mountains National Park. All data is based on personal records from photographs and field notes. There are plants and areas that are underrepresented. For example, some information is from older photographs taken before field notes were recorded. Thus, only certain plants on a specific date may have been recorded. Some plants are extremely difficult to identify and were not recorded in the field notes. Likewise, some plants may be incorrectly recorded, especially if they are difficult to distinguish from other plants in the same genus. Furthermore, some sites have been visited only once, while others have been visited numerous times. Generally, most invasive and exotic plants (i.e. privet, kudzu) as well as flowering plants with inconspicuous flowers (i.e. oaks, grasses) are not recorded. Alan Weakley's Flora of the Southeastern United States (10/20/20 Edition) has been used to establish current scientific names.
