One form of the Elixir of Life is called the 'Bread of Life', a Monoatomic Isotope of Gold charged with energy. The Bread of life was made by the priests for the pharos from a small amount of the white powdered monoatomic gold taken out of one of several Arcs of the Covenant. The Arcs were capacitors placed in one of many pyramids to charge up with the earths focused energy field.

The Elixir was not chemical, but energy based. 

Throughout history, it is recorded of an alternative food source given to the survivors of the floods, and during the famines, that allowed them to not need to eat for months at a time. Once you partook of the Food of the Gods, you then ate only for pleasure.
