Joint Ph.D.

Hariharan secured his M. Tech. Anna University and joined BioMeDHs lab as joint Ph.D. student with Lab 1 of Prof. Saravanan Matheshwaran of BSBE department. He joined BioMeDHs lab as joint PhD student in Jan, 2019

Piyush Kumar

Ph.D.

Piyush has a masters degree in Biochemical Engineering from IIT (BHU) Varanasi. He holds his graduation in Biotechnology. He has experience in working on the bio-remediation of undesirable components from water bodies and enzymes. His areas of interests are bio-remediation and development of economical and novel biosensors for medical use. He joined BioMeDHs lab as Ph.D. student in July, 2019. 

Neha Yadav

Ph.D.

Neha Yadav completed M.Tech from Department of Biotechnology at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad. Her areas of interest are electrochemical analysis of heavy metals, phytic acid estimatiom in legumes, biofuel(ethanol) from industrial and household waste. She joined BioMeDHs lab as PhD student in July, 2019. 

Niranjan Chatterjee

Ph. D.

Niranjan has completed M.Sc in Human Physiology from Vidyasagar University, Midnapore, West Bengal, India and B.Sc in Physiology from The University of Burdwan, West Bengal, India with First class.He has joined at the Department of Biological Science and Bioengineering of Indian Institute Technology Kanpur in the year of 2019 as a PhD scholar. under the guidance of Prof. Santosh k Misra.His research interest is to work on Chemotherapy, Stem cell biology and Nano biotechnology.

Sandarbh Kumar

Ph.D.

Sandarbh has done his B.Tech. in Biotechnology from National Institute of Technology Rourkela. My research interests include Biomaterials, Hydrogels and Nanotechnology. I am also an entrepreneur and founded a healthcare based startup “Advanced BioMed Solutions”. I joined BioMeDHs Lab in january 2019 and working as a doctoral student here.

Tamojit Santra

Ph.D.Tamojit completed his bachelors from SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, Chennai on Biotechnology. He was the University first rank holder. He pursued M.E. in Biomedical Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata on Biomedical Engineering. He has worked on cell culture and cytotoxicity studies, antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of plant extracts. Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles and synthesis of hydrogels for drug delivery systems. He has also performed molecular docking and in silico assays. He has joined BioMedhs lab in July 2020.

Saumya Rai

Joint Ph.D.

I have done my bachelors from Banaras Hindu University in Zoology (Hons.) and masters from University of Allahabad in Zoology with specialization in cell biology. I joined the BioMeDHs lab in December 2021 as joint Ph.D. with Prof. Jayandharan G. Rao.

Animesh Kumar Soni

Ph.D.

Animesh has his Btech.(Honours) in Biomedical Engineering from department of Biomedical Engineering NIT Raipur. He had participated and won in many national TechExpos organized by tech giants IEEE, MEITY Government of India and others. Worked on 3D printing, CNC, electronic circuit designing, Drone, Machine learning inspired Electronic Stethoscope and instrumented surgery tool(lumbar probe). His interest lies in the field of biosensors, microfluidic, spectroscopy and ayurveda. He joined BioMeDHs lab as PhD student in July 2022. 

Urvashi Pandita

Ph.D.

I have done my B.Tech in Biotechnology from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra and M.Tech in Biotechnology from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala. 
During my B.Tech, I worked on Synthesis of Gelatin and Tricalcium phosphate patches for cortical bone healing from IIT Kanpur and during my M.Tech, I worked on In-vitro conservation of some endangered orchids of himalayan region from Thapar institute of engineering and technology.
My research interests are towards the Tissue engineering and Nano biotechnology.
Joined BioMeDHs lab as a PhD student in July 2022. .

Adheeti Atul Agarwal

Ph.D.

Adheeti graduated with B.Tech. in Bioengineering from MIT ADT University, Pune. During her graduation, she worked with aerobic and anaerobic microbial cultures, protein extraction/isolation, and performed biosensing/screening assays for biosurfactant and toxin production. In her final year, she worked on analytical characterization of recombinant biopharmaceutical protein at IIT Delhi.

She joined BioMeDHs lab as a M.Tech. student in August 2022. Currently, she is working as a PhD student in the lab with research interest in cancer diagnosis and therapy.



Piyush Dey

M.Tech.

I have completed B.Pharm from University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University, Chandigarh in 2022. I joined BioMeDHs lab in September 2023 as an M.Tech student. I will be working on Biomineralized nanoparticles for the treatment of cancer. My research interests are Nanotechnology and Drug Delivery.

Yash Jahangirdhar

SURGE Intern

I am a final-year undergraduate pursuing Bachelors of Technology in Biological Sciences and Bioengineering at IIT Kanpur. My goal in life is to use the knowledge obtained to solve global problems faced by society through innovative technology-driven solutions. I had the privilege of working under the mentorship of Dr. S. K. Misra when I joined the BioMeDHs lab in the summer of 2022 as a SURGE- Students-Undergraduate Research Graduate Excellence (SURGE) program fellow. I, under the supervision of Mr. Piyush, a graduate student from the lab, designed 6 optimized formulations for paper-based biosensors, of which the best-performing biosensor demonstrated 5-fold better conductivity and consistent results across different input parameters. The optimized coat is currently being further refined, which will aid in faster measurement of the diseased state. This project has enhanced my wet lab skills in biosensing. Apart from studies, I love to play sports and spend time with my family and friends.

I had joined VIT Vellore in 2016 to pursue my degree in Integrated MSc Biotechnology.My projects include fields like Cell and Molecular Biology. I have worked on Hypoxia mediated sex determination and angiogenesis in Zebrafish embryos and the effect of mechanical stress on the memory retention in Zebrafish embryos. My research interest includes Cancer Biology and Stem cell technology. I have joined BioMeDHs lab under the SURGE program for summer training.

Saptami Suresh Shetty joined VIT Vellore in 2016 where she is currently pursuing her B. tech in Biomedical Engineering. She is also working under MSME India with Anuragini enterprises in developing a prototype related to biomechanics funded by the government of India. Her area or interest are biomaterials, artificial organs, carbon materials and 3D printing. She is currently working on Design, synthesis and preliminary characterization of carbon nanomaterials for biosensing application. Anchal Gupta has joined Amity University Noida Campus in 2017 where she is currently pursing B.Sc. Honours in Biotechnology. She wrote a report on Stages of Cervical Cancer. Her primary research interest are stem cell therapy to assist therapeutic regimen, Cancer Biology, Drug Discover and Biosensing platforms. Research Associate

Dr. Bhawna has completed her Ph.D. from the Department of Chemistry at IIT Indore, Indore, M.P., India. She explored the physicochemical properties of coacervate droplets for catalysis, sensing and biomedical applications during her Ph.D. work. 

She has joined the Department of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering at IIT Kanpur in Nov. 2023 as a research associate under Dr. Santosh K. Misra. Here, she is working on the generation of intracellular plasmonic nanoparticles for sensing and chemo-photothermal combinatorial cancer therapy.

M.Tech.I have completed B.Tech (Biotechnology) from SVPUA&T, Meerut in 2021.I joined BioMeDHs lab  in March 2021 as an M.tech student. I defended my M.Tech. Thesis titled "Remediation of Pharmacophoric Chemicals Present in Laboratory Waste by using Biodegradable Carbon Nanoparticles of Bacterial Biofilm Origin" on 25th January, 2025.

I have completed M.Sc.( Zoology) in 2017 from Christchurch P.G. College, CSJM University, Kanpur and B.Sc. (Zoology and Botany) in 2015 from Brahmanand P.G. College, CSJM University, Kanpur. My hobbies are Crafting, Sketching, Writing poetry and designing models. I've joined BioMeDHs lab in July 2020 as M.Tech. Student. I will be working in nanotechnology and drug delivery system for the treatment of Skin Cancer.

Dr. Akanksha Dohare

Post Doc

Dr. Akanksha Dohare graduated with Ph.D. degree in Chemistry with specialization in Nanoscience and Nanomedicine from Eberhard Karl University of Tübingen, Germany in 2021 under the supervision  of  Professor Hermann A Mayer.She has joined the Department of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in April 2021 as a Postdoc Researcher in the Prof. Santosh k Misra's lab. Her research focuses on synthesizing carbon-based satellite material and nano-porous, silica-based auto-fluorescent carbon nanoparticles (NPSFCNP) for the early detection of oral cancer.

Aishwarya Naik

M.Tech.Aishwarya Naik graduated in 2021 with an M.Tech. degree. She worked on development of novel trackable and triggerable nano-system for cancer therapy. She has joined the lab as project associate in October, 2021.She is a member of IIMAR (Indian Initiative for Management of Antibiotic Resistance). Her current work focuses on exploring inexpensive and early diagnosis techniques for oral cancer.
