Doha Sub Aqua Club

We have some New Year’s Resolutions to make us one of the most engaged and exciting BSAC clubs to be part of. Why not join us in trying to realise these in 2024? (Q1 Progress Update in Brackets)

• we’d like to reach 60 diving members (We now have 55 diving members, an increase of 5 from January '24)

• we’d like to get Betty (our club boat) out on 25 trips this year (Due to weather and maintenance, only 1 outing so far this year)

• we’d like every diving member to have the opportunity to join one club dive a month and four boat dives in the year (Our Members have had the opportunity to join 14 beach dives and 1 boat dive in Q1 2024 - Open to all abilities)

• we’d like to increase the number of Instructors and Dive Leaders and elevate the certification levels for all active divers (Oman Training Camp will deliver 4 new Open Water Instructors and 2 Assistant Instructors )

• we’d like to have a Club Social Event every quarter (Craig's Leaving Braai & Bunco Night in Q1, Rugby Club Ball and Wine Tasting planned for Q2. We have held the Monthly BBQ/Braai on the last Tuesday of every month, hosted the Hash at the Clubhouse and had our first camp-out and dive of the season)

And the ultimate ambition…..a nomination for the Heinke Trophy 🏆 in 2024!

Your local BSAC dive club in Qatar

DohaSub-Aqua Club was formed in 1977 and has 55 members of varying ages and qualification levels. It  is one of the longest established diving clubs in the Gulf region.  

Qatar offers a wide range of diving experiences, from shallow beach sites - some reachable only by "dune-bashing" through miles of hot, dry desert - to moderately deeper wreck sites, located some miles offshore. The club has its own dedicated boat that can accommodate up to 15 divers and their gear. We even use drones to help locate dive sites! The Persian Gulf around us offers everything from almost microscopic nudibranchs (like the one at the top of this page) to magnificent specimens of whale shark, the biggest fish in the world. We dive all year round, even in the winter when water temperatures drop to as low as 20 deg C !!

The success of any club stems from its social activities, and we are no different. We meet every Tuesday at the clubhouse in Doha, where we share experiences and plan the weekend's dives. Every last Tuesday in the month is barbecue night! Even if you don't wish to dive, you are most welcome to join us for or Social events either as a Social Member or by paying a small guest fee for every visit.
