Interregional distance and travel time dataset

A comprehensive dataset with interregional distance and transport cost estimations. The files contain the geodesic distance, travel time by road, travel distance by road, and a generalised transport cost estimate (and components) for all pairs of EU regions, at the NUTS2 level. Reference: Persyn, D., Díaz-Lanchas, J. and Barbero, J. "Estimating road transport costs between and within EU regions" JRC Working Papers on Territorial Modelling and Analysis 2019-04

Fool-proof creation of regional maps

A web-based tool for illustrating regional data on a map, for the EU only. Data should be in a .csv file. First column should contain a region identifier, other columns data. The first row should contain column names, not data. The tool attempts to auto-detect the NUTS classification being used (only 2010 or 2013 for now). You can use a mix of NUTS levels. Drop the datafile on the map to draw it. The tools makes extensive use of the d3 javascript library.

Eurostat Time Machine

Eurostat regularly updates its datasets, removing the older versions from public access. This makes it hard to create long time series, or to replicate scientific work. To solve this, the folders below contain old snapshots of the Eurostat database. These are made every few months, using a simple python script.  The July 2019 snapshot is from the 'Waybackmachine' but is incomplete. All the original copyrights apply. If you find this repository useful, please cite it as the location from which you downloaded the Eurostat data, as described in this document.
