 What happens to our internal compass when we float in space, with no up or down?

That is why we study spatial memory in microgravity. 

We are an international team of interdisciplinary student researchers exploring the human brain in space.

When we first met at the ESA-ELGRA Gravity-Related Research Summer School in 2025, we were soon floating through curious questions about what happens to neuroscience as we know it in space. A less-than-average karaoke performance and huge slices of ESA-ELGRA birthday cake later, we had some solid ideas that we would pursue together over the next year.

Our question is how microgravity affects spatial memory formation and retrieval.
