Calling all Classical Musicians and lovers of classical music!
Classical Revolution is an internationally recognized grassroots chamber music movement founded in 2006 in San Francisco by violist Charith Premawardhana. Operating under the guiding principle “chamber music for the people,” the organization is dedicated to presenting high-quality classical music in accessible, informal settings that eliminate traditional barriers to participation. By 2013, Classical Revolution had grown to approximately 38 chapters worldwide and received national and international media recognition for its innovative model.
The Classical Revolution–Athens chapter has served the local community continuously since 2014, excluding two years during the COVID-19 pandemic. The chapter is co-directed by Dr. Alexandra Snyder Dunbar and Jazmyn Trujilio, DMA candidate at the University of Georgia. Its mission is to present free, inclusive, and family-friendly performances that reflect the talents of local musicians and welcome audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Dr. Alexandra Dunbar often brings her own harpsichords and encourages the community to perform baroque music. Performances have included University of Georgia early music ensembles, Amethyst Baroque, and individual community members. By prioritizing accessibility, community partnership, and artistic excellence, Classical Revolution–Athens fosters meaningful cultural engagement and strengthens the local arts ecosystem.
