Dr. Ashok Kumar is currently working as an assistant scientist in Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute, Larnaca, Republic of Cyprus. He holds the Chartered Engineer certificate from the Engineering council, U.K. He pursued his Ph.D. degree in the field of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering at department of ocean engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM). His Ph.D thesis is on 'Hydro Elasticity of Carbon Composite propellers for marine applications'. Prior to IITM he worked as a Asst.Prof in Managlore Marine College & Technology, Karnataka, India. He hold a master degree in naval architecture and ocean engineering from Indian Maritime University and a bachelor degree from Anna University. His research interest includes ship design, hydrodynamics, propellers, composite materials, seakeeping etc.
Apart from academics Dr.Kumar also exhibited his intrest in co-curricular and extra curricular activities. He currently serving as a Assistant Warden for two hostels at IIT Madras. During 2017-2018, he served as a Research Affairs Secretary (RAS) of IIT Madras. He also served for several years in placement team of institute. He is the current secretary of MTS Student Chapter of IITM and active Member in RINA, U.K.
