Jom Amtawong 

Assistant Professor (2024 - present) 

Jom grew up in Thailand and moved to the United States in 2012. She obtained her B.S. degree from UC Irvine, where she was introduced to physical chemistry research through the mentorship of Prof. Kenneth Janda. Jom pursued her Ph.D. at UC Berkeley, joining the Don Tilley research group. After completing her Ph.D., Jom continued her research as a postdoctoral researcher with Prof. Jillian Dempsey's group at UNC Chapel Hill. Currently, Jom is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at U of A, where she leads a research group dedicated to developing (electro)catalysts for renewable energy applications.

Matthew Dickson

Graduate Student (2024 - present)

I'm from Ottawa, ON and completed a BSc in chemistry at St. FX in Antigonish, NS before moving to U of A  for graduate studies. Areas of research interest include energy storage, electrochemistry and inorganic catalysts. My favorite element is Rh. 

Sunny Wang 

Undergraduate Student (May 1st, 2024 - present)

I'm from Edmonton, AB and I'm currently an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto working towards a BSc. I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to work in the Amtawong Chemistry lab at the University of Alberta under the supervision of Professor Amtawong for the summer of 2024.
