Tutorials

The AIRPHARO2021 includes two tutorials, taking place on Tuesday, October 5th at room Lavander. Both tutorials are focused on successful commercialization of technologies developed through R&D projects.

Tutorial 1 - Technology Transfer Actions

Silvia de los Santos, Technological Corporation of Andalusia (CTA), Spain

Location: Room Lavander

Tuesday, October 5th, 11:15-12:00

Abstract:

The importance of the Technology Transfer is well known for a long time ago, but current pandemic situation has highlighted the importance of the generation of new knowledge and its transference into market though products or services useful for our society.

Many robotics applications have been developed in the last years, but industrialization and commercialization of new product remain a pending issue.

In this session you will have the opportunity to share best practices regarding technology transfer and analyze what is the best way of transfer of your latest research and development results.

Tutorial 2 - Key aspects for the creation of a successful spin-off

Silvia de los Santos, Technological Corporation of Andalusia (CTA), Spain

Ashutosh Choubey, Imperial College London, UK

Location: Room Lavander

Tuesday, October 5th, 12:00-12:45

Abstract:

The demand of the technological products and solutions is growing in the market. Creation of spin-off is an excellent way to transfer your robotic research and development results into the new markets (agriculture, inspection, etc.). Business experience and a good technological product or service are both important for the success of the new company.

In this session we will share the experience on supporting the creation, consolidation and grow of the spin-off and we will explore the opportunities of the new Horizon Europe program for these new enterprises.

Silvia is Industrial Engineer from the University of Seville and expert in Environmental Management.

She is also the head of the Aerospace and Production sector of the Andalusian Technological Corporation since 2016. She has more than 15 years of experience in innovation, R & TD & I project management, knowledge and intellectual property management for the aerospace sector. She also works for the European Commission in the evaluation of R&D projects in different programs, such as Horizon 2020.

Abstract:

The success of commercialisation of university-based R&D projects through spinouts (USOs) is investigated. It finds that USOs are commercially successful but generate limited employment growth. Critical success ingredient of USOs will be analysed using MAIR model (Motivation, Ability, Idea and Resources). What is the motivation of technology creator in the Spinout creation? Business idea is Niche or New? Typical skill set that required like business or technical. How to generate resources? The role of the technology transfrer office of university will be presented. These are some questions that we will explore to answer in this session.
