Flame images in an obstructed channel captured through a 30 FPS mobile camera. The set of images at the middle were obtained in an obstructed channel with closely-spaced obstacles while rest of the images were obtained in a channel with widely-spaced obstacles. These photos were taken during my master's research work (May 2016 - June 2017). More details on this experimental work can be obtained here.

About Me

Hi, my name is Abinash Sahoo. I recently graduated from IIT Madras with bachelor's and master's integrated degree in Aerospace engineering. After graduation, I am working as a project officer with Prof. Santanu Ghosh in his CFD research group. I am currently looking for Ph.D. research opportunities in the field of numerical modelling with applications in the areas of high-speed flows, turbulence, and reacting flows. If given a chance, I am also willing to work in the field of experimentation. In the future, I wish to pursue a career in academic research.

You have reached my personal website. The contents of this site are more focused on my educational background, research interests, and experiences. Please browse through the tabs on the top to know more about me and my research accomplishments.

Research Overview

As a project officer with Prof. Santanu Ghosh at IIT Madras, I am currently working in the computational field of high-speed flows. My current research focus is on studying flow over a porous medium which can serve as a potential passive flow control technique with overall drag reduction and suppression of flow separation over an airfoil. My research interests broadly lie in the field of numerical modelling with applications in fluid mechanics, combustion, high-speed flows, and turbulence.

Apart from the computational work, I also have an interest in the experimental field. I have experience in high-speed imaging technique, Schlieren flow visualization technique, Shadowgraphy, and Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) technique which I learnt during my master's research work.
