Guiding Principles

1. connected inter-professional learning

Develop and use of personal learning networks (PLN) to leverage the power of connected learning (Couros, 2010; Desselle, 2017; Hart et al., 2017; Melrose, Park, Perry, 2016; Smith, 2013).

2. open learning

Select Open learning activities including open resources and learning in the open (Couros & Hildebrandt, 2016; Cronin, 2017; Desselle, 2017; Wiley, 2013)

3. user-generated content

"Start by trusting students" (Stommel, 2017). Students generate activities and content through providing resources and contributing their own artefacts and to the content of the course (Kazin, 2017)

4. non-disposable activities

Students create personally and professionally meaningful content they can use outside of the course and beyond their program (Levine, 2017; Wiley, 2013)

5. curating and parsing information is a critical skill

Finding, synthesising, and sharing digital information is a useful and essential skill. (Oddone, 2016)

6. Digital literacy is a key 21st Century skill

Responsible and effective use of digital tools is essential (Cronin, 2017; Steakley, 2013).
