Beyond Borders & Boundaries

Modern borders define and divide nations, cultures and traditions. Both modern research and history evidence people and goods have always transcended boundaries. Ideas and commodities have never been exclusive to a single region or nation, but have generally been objects of exchange, competition, and rivalry. Proposed research encourages analysis of fixed political boundaries and encourages scholars to reconsider borders as works in progress and Asia as a region in motion.

Consider a wide range of ideas regarding the overall theme, "Beyond Borders and Boundaries" and how it enhances our understanding of Southeast-Asia and how the region has shaped the past and is currently reshaping the world. In order to have multiple perspectives on the theme, this conference has been divided into research of three main topics:

(1) Southeast Asian languages

(2) Southeast-Asian governments and societies

(3) Southeast-Asian enterprises and properties
