Meet Mrs. Payne

Mrs. Payne is in her third year as the Gifted Specialist/Enrichment Coach at Sequoya Elementary School. She has taught computers, science, ELA. She was a Gifted Specialist in PVUSD for three years, the Media Specialist at Mountainside Middle School for 12 years and also taught fourth, fifth, and sixth grades in Illinois and Texas. Her Master's Degree is in Educational Technology from NAU and her Bachelor’s Degree is in Elementary Education from Elmhurst College in Illinois. She holds a Gifted Endorsement, an ELL endorsement, and a Media Specialist endorsement. Mrs. Payne has been the recipient of many accolades including Charros Middle School Teacher of the Year in 2004 and she was one of the top five candidates for Arizona Teacher of the Year in 2005. She also was a Rotary Teacher of the Year Finalist in Clear Creek ISD, in Houston, Texas in 2012. As an Intel Master Teacher from 2000-2006, she trained over 300 teachers in Scottsdale how to integrate technology into their lessons and was a recipient of a grant that provided computers and a Smart Board for her sixth grade classroom.
