Tomb of Unknown Soldier

Eight Cadets, Victoria Young, Collin Robertson, Esteban Morales, Pierre Fuentes, Cadence Wahl, Abigail Nimrod, Cameroon Jordan, and Adian Forrest traveled to Paris for the ceremony of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Many people attended its 100th anniversary, where the cadets took part in the ceremony.  Cadets Wahl and Nimrod from Stuttgart laid a DODEA JROTC wreath. JROTC is very thankful to AUSA for sponsoring the cadets' trip.

Unit History

The Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) was established by the National Defense Act of 1916. JROTC was established in Europe with the opening of five battalions in 1973. The 9th Army JROTC Battalion was organized during the school year 1983 in Ansbach, Germany.

The Battalion was designated as an “Honor Unit with Distinction” from the Annual Inspection in the year 2004-2005 and has maintained this through the current date.

The battalion is involved in extracurricular activities through the community for example Cadets take part in the USAG Ansbach Hispanic Heritage Celebration, and the Amazing Race bringing the importance of suicide prevention and domestic violence awareness to the community. The 9th JROTC BN was the first unit to take part in the USAG Ansbach Adopt a Tree program. Historical trips are taken every year to study history and honor our fallen Soldiers. Cadets also provide Color Guard for the community on Memorial Day and Veterans Day Ceremonies and other events as requested by the community.

In keeping with the reputation of the Battalion, the JROTC Marksmanship and Drill Teams are highly competitive. They have received multiple trophies in Marksmanship and Drill Team competitions.

The 9th U.S. Army JROTC Battalion has a history of excellence that will continue on into the future.  The battalions achievements and community support exemplify the mission of JROTC “To motivate young people to be better citizens!”
