What comes into your mind when you hear the word computer? Something that can help you with your homework? A fun device that you can play games on? Computers come in many other shapes and sizes; mobile phones, tablets, game consoles and even TVs, cars and microwaves have built-in computers
This term we will be learning about computers and technology all around us. We will explore the history of computers, famous computer scientists, new inventions and more. Year 6 are taking part in a project using Artificial Intelligence while Year 5 will be taking part in a project designing apps. Year 4 will be developing their computer skills using Google Classroom, Slides and Docs.
In literacy we are already writing sci-fi stories and later in the term we will move onto debating. We will consider the pros and cons of technology such as driverless cars, AI and cashless payments and discuss how computers are replacing humans in jobs.
We will be learning more about the STEM skills gap and exploring how technology is used in different careers. We would love parents to share more with us about how they use technology in their own workplaces.
