Ms. Pillers earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Randolph-Macon College in Virginia (2006), a Master of Education at Framingham State University in Massachusetts (2010), and a Master of Science in Communication and Composition from Minnesota State University, Mankato (2021). 

Ms. Pillers serves on the Advisory Board for the Saint Peter Public Library. 

Ms. Pillers serves as an AP Reader  for the Advanced Placement (AP) English Literature and Composition Free Response portion of the exam.

During 2018-2019 Ms. Pillers taught English Language Arts to grades 6-12 at Kato Public Charter School in Mankato, MN. 

Ms. Pillers taught English Language Arts and Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition to grades 9-12  at Lincoln International Academy in the Central American country Nicaragua from 2008-2018. 

 Ms. Pillers served as a Peace Corps Volunteer Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from 2006-2008 in Nicaragua.
