A WINDY WELCOME TO YEAR SIX

Our Year Six inventors threw caution to the wind last week when they built their very own wind turbines. On their first day, no less! Some would say that was a mite ambitious for the young scholars and would expect them to have run out of wind very quickly. But not this lot. They blew us away with their handmade wind-turning machines - all constructed, Blue-Peter style, from recycled milk cartons, some drinking straws, a stretch of dowling, a blade or two of plastic and a length of string. It's all very well looking the business, but would they actually turn in the face of wind? In came Mr Munn with his handy fan to test the homemade turbines. A sort of makeshift, portable 'eye of the storm.' And, as you can see from the smiles above, it was a resounding 'yes.' There may have been a tweak or two to get them wind perfect, but we got they in the end. Well done Year Six. With the right wind behind you, you are going to sail through Year Six.
