WELCOME TO ST STEPHEN'S

It's so wonderful to welcome new members to our team. Let's say 'hello' to a trio of new faces, soon set to be familiar to us all. Read all about them below ...

CATHERINE O'CONNOR

I am very excited to be joining the team at St Stephen's School as Phase Leader for years One and Two and a Year Two class teacher. I have been teaching in London schools for the past sixteen years, across all key stages.

I am passionate about teaching and making the curriculum come alive for our children.

I can remember how much I enjoyed my teachers reading stories to me and I want to instil that love of books and reading in the children I teach.

In my spare time I enjoy going on long walks, running, cycling and visiting art galleries. I love camping holidays and discussing a variety of fiction books with my book club friends.

CRAIG BROWN

I am looking forward to embarking on this new chapter at St Stephen's as a Sports Coach.

Previously, I worked for Brentford Community Sports Trust , working across all departments, gaining plenty of experience with young people. My most recent role was as Head Coach at Chase Bridge Primary School, along with co-ordinating some of Brentford Boys Football Development Programmes.

With many years coaching multi sports and teaching curriculum PE, mentoring, teacher CPD and youth work, catering to diversity and differentiating sessions, I aim to engage all children in sport, as well as developing their social and emotional wellbeing.

Outside of work I like spending time with family and friends and going to the gym.

RACHEL MOWBRAY

It is quite surreal to return to St Stephen's, having been a pupil here over twenty years ago! Before joining (or re-joining) the team, as a Year Four teacher, I taught at Ark Swift Primary School. I adored my time with the children there, training in Year One and moving on to Year Six. Although it was hard to leave, the draw of the teacher development, team spirit and the community minded attitude of St Stephen's was all too appealing. Prior teaching, I was a Captain in the British Army Intelligence Corps. My experiences in Afghanistan persuaded me that I wanted to continue in a career where I could make a decisive difference to our next generation. In my time off, I enjoy running, reading and spending time with my sixteen month old son, Rory, and family.

RECEPTION ARE IN THE BUILDING - AND WE ARE THRILLED

Check out these pictures of our brand new Reception cohort. As you can see, they have been sampling all the facilities St Stephen's has to offer. All our Reception children got a guided tour to enable them to get their bearings. We caught up with Mrs Dale to find out how they are all doing: "We now have all our Reception children in school, they have settled very quickly with only a few tears. It was lovely being able to do home visits face to face again this year. This helps the children get to know the staff before they start. Our topic is based around ourselves this half term, how do I feel, who am I and where do I fit in? We will be basing our work on the texts The Colour Monster, The Paper Dolls and Owl Babies. The role play areas have been turned into cafes which have proved very popular."
