Mrs. Nelson

Welcome! I am Mariah Nelson, one of the Special Education Teachers at Bonner. I grew up in Blooming Prairie MN; home of the Awesome Blossoms. After high school I attended Winona State University where I received degrees in Elementary Education (K-6) and Special Education-LD (K-12). I also have a masters degree in Elementary Reading and Mathematics from Walden University. This will be my sixth year at Bonner-Go Tigers! In my spare time I enjoy traveling with my husband, watching sports, game nights with friends and family and playing with our cat Stella!

I look forward to another year of working with and getting to know my students and their families. If you need to contact me in relation to a question or concern please do not hesitate to ask!

If you would like to get ahold of me before school the best time would be from 7:30am-7:50am. I am also available after school from 3:00pm-3:30pm and will be able to respond to emails, text messages and voicemails at various times throughout the day.

Teacher Schedule

As a special education teacher, my daily schedule is determined by the services presented and documented on a student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). Please refer to your child's general education teacher for their specific schedule.

Class Expectations

In our resource room we participate in R.O.A.R (Respect Others, Act Responsibly) where students can receive ROAR cards when caught making good choices. Each student has an IEP and based upon the information in their IEP, each student will be addressed in an individualized manner. When a problem occurs in our resource room, students receive verbal reminders to make positive choices. If a problem continues, the student will be offered a break from the situation. Parents/guardians are notified if a student continues to be challenged with a specific problem.
