Welcome!

Museo ng Muntinlupa, located at the shore of Laguna de Bay, is a state-of-the-art five-story building that contains a main gallery, a mayor’s hall, an interactive science center, and a PWD-friendly 200-seater theater that may serve as a venue for cultural shows, orientations, and audio-visual presentations.

A Project of Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, the Museo ng Muntinlupa is established under the Tourism and Arts Department (TCAD) of the City Government of Muntinlupa.

Muntinlupa Origin

The origin of the name "Muntinlupa" came from at least three versions. First, is its association with the thin top soil in the area, thus the term Muntinlupa. Second, residents, purportedly replying to a question by Spaniards in the 16th century about what the name of their place was, said "Monte sa Lupa" apparently mistaking the question for what card game they were playing. Third, the topographical nature of the area, where the term "Monte" or mountain was expanded to Muntinlupa or mountain land.

Watch this video as it shows a part of Muntinlupa from the Meysapan hacienda, Tondo province to Rizal province. Today, Muntinlupa has been independent for over a hundred years and to this date, the continual development of our city remains.

Structure

Take a look around.

Interesting Fact!
Its exterior structural design replicates the fishing apparatus called baklad, which was used by Muntinlupeño fishermen of yore at Laguna de Bay. The design places a premium on the major source of livelihood in the olden times.
