FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the difference between Athletics and PE?

Athletics is much more demanding. It is focused on building our team sports that will continue on up to the high school. All students enrolled in Athletics are required to compete in at least 1 sport. Failure to do so will result in a schedule change after the 1st Semester.

How will the information be communicated to us parents?

We take pride in having open communication between coaches and parents. We will relay any information needed to you via SportYou App or our CMS Athletics Google Site. There will be times where we communicate via email, so in order to ensure you receive that information please have all recipients emails listed in Skyward because we pull our email list directly from there.

What if my daughter plays other sports outside of school?

We love our athletes to be multi-sport! However, if you are a part of the CMS Athletic Program our expectation is that your daughter is able to attend every practice and every game.

Which sports are cut sports?

Volleyball, Basketball and Track (time qualifying sport) are cut sports. Cross Country is a non-cut sport.

If my daughter does not make or want to play volleyball what will she participate in during that time?

All athletes who do not play on the volleyball team will run with the Cross Country team. So if she does not wish to participate in Volleyball, she will be running with the Cross Country team.

What can my daughter do over the summer to get ready for athletics?

Performance Course (PC) conducts our off-season/summer workouts for our athletes at Carroll Sr. High School during the summer. This is an amazing opportunity for our athletes to get ahead of the game and come into fall being ready to hit the ground running. Again, this is not just for volleyball, all sports utilize PC because they train you to be the best athlete possible. Click on the link at the top of the page to get your daughter registered for the summer courses!

Are there any sport summer camps my daughter can participate in?

We have several opportunities this summer for your daughter to participate in a sport specific camp. Click on the registration link at the top of the page to check out all the different camps and to get your daughter signed up! This gives us coaches a chance to work with our athletes during the summer.

What equipment or clothes will my daughter need for athletics, and the different sports?

Items needed for athletics and all the different sports can be found on the different sports pages by clicking on the "General Information" button on each page. Click on the sport you wish to view the general information: Volleyball, Cross Country, Basketball, Track & Field
