March 6, 2010: Friends & Family celebrated the life of Jan K. Gleason, 12/13/1948-1/6/2010
Following an illness of several months, Seattle architect Jan Gleason (BA Cornell 1970, MArch UW 1981) died in peace at her home within a circle of loved ones. She had retired in 2008 from her position as Executive Director at Environmental Works, where she carried out her mission as "a social worker in three dimensions." UW Professor of Architecture Dr. Sharon E. Sutton wrote this about Jan in 2005: "Through her built projects, she demonstrates how to practice a socially and environmentally just architecture of community."
Jan participated in WilDLife with typical generosity and community spirit.
