about Warhammer Quest 40k

First things first:I use some of the same game mechanics in the modified game. The concepts of Power Dice, all the Characteristics, Unexpected Events, the Exploration Phase and the Power Phase are used as a tribute to the old game!

No challenge of GW’s rights regarding Warhammer Quest or Warhammer 40.000 or any of the creatures therein, or all the other games for that matter, is intended.

Now that that's settled...: This is a fan project. It incorporates elements from all those places and games I am inspired by. This is purely a fan based package of rules for one more way of using the 40k model range. I, The author of these books, do NOT claim any fiscal ownership on the individual elements of this project. Games Workshop is the original developer of the Warhammer Quest game, and I do not intend to challenge their right to any of the terms in the 40k mythology or terminology or the original game. These "house rules" were created to enable a good game to cross over into another universe, not because of any potential profit from it. All books are laid out in their context on the web and are considered FREE. Feel free to use them and edit them, but if you do, do not post them in your own name.

In all due respect, I would like to pinpoint all points of reference and inspiration to the project:

The original game is long out of print but can be found on ebay if you want a reference, but the rules are available on the internet.

The game is for 5 players, ideally. This includes 4 Warriors (which are human Inquisitorial/ Guardsmen warriors in this edition) and a single Game Master, but can be played with more or less players. All the players pool together some 40k models. The GM sets up a mission using the GM book, the board tiles and some creativity. The players each pick a warrior, they choose a leader, and the game begins. The players now take turns moving their warriors, and the GM his monsters. When events happen, the GM reads them to the warrior players. Monsters attack the players and are defeated by the warriors. The warriors balance on the edge of destruction at all times, but if they do not fail, reward and treasure and better equipment awaits them. If they survive, they will improve in battle levels, gain extra skills, training feats, powers and better characteristics. They will improve, fight on, meet more dangerous enemies, face more specialized enemies, and combat far tougher enemies. At one point they will probably die a heroes' death at a foe much greater than their combined prowess, or they will survive through bloodthirsters and stargods and orks the size of dreadnoughts.

core changes from WHQ to WHQ40k

This is a modification on Warhammer Quest. This means you will use the rules of this game 95% of the time. But there are some changes:
