Vassilios Vonikakis was born in 1977. He received the diploma on Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH ), Greece, in 2002, with a specialization in electronics and a diploma thesis on Smart Home Applications. In 2008 he received the PhD degree, in the field of Biologically-Inspired Image Processing, from the Democritus University of Thrace, dept. of Electrical & Computer Engineering. He currently works as a Post-Doctoral fellow in the Advanced Digital Sciences Center (ADSC), Singapore, which is a part of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC).
